برای مثال دوست جامعه شناسی از ما سوال معقولی کرد: آیا این امر برای مکانیک کوانتومی تناقض به شمار نمی‌رود که هم " #ناپیوستگی " را نشان می‌دهد و هم ' #به_ هم_پیوستگی ' ؟ را مگر این ویژگی ها متضاد نیستند؟ پاسخ مختصر این است که این ویژگی ها از جهات بسیار خاصی مکانیک کوانتومی را توصیف می‌کند که فهم درست آن مستلزم شناخت ریاضیاتی این نظریه است و از این جهات این دو مفهوم با یکدیگر تناقض ندارد.
