Baburin was found guilty under an array of Articles, including “treason against the state” and “attempted organisation of a terrorist act”. The court sentenced Ilya to 25 years’ imprisonment, of which the first five years must be served in prison, and the remaining 20 in a strict regime colony.
Ilya pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him. His lawyer, Vasily Dubkov, called on the court to acquit his client.

The next bit isn’t clear, but Durov reportedly claimed that his resignation, dated March 21st, was an April Fools’ prank. The channels can be followed by an unlimited number of people. Unlike Facebook, Twitter and other popular social networks, there is no advertising on Telegram and the flow of information is not driven by an algorithm.
