Работа военного корреспондента и, например, штурмовика или артиллериста чрезвычайно сильно отличаются. Статус УБД тем и отличается, что его обладатель реально участвует в боях, а не просто освещает их со стороны. Разве журналист, освещающий работу завода с вредным производством, уходит на пенсию на тех же условиях, что и работник на нем?
