Since January 2022, the SC has received a total of 47 complaints and enquiries on illegal investment schemes promoted through Telegram. These fraudulent schemes offer non-existent investment opportunities, promising very attractive and risk-free returns within a short span of time. They commonly offer unrealistic returns of as high as 1,000% within 24 hours or even within a few hours. Continuing its crackdown against entities allegedly involved in a front-running scam using messaging app Telegram, Sebi on Thursday carried out search and seizure operations at the premises of eight entities in multiple locations across the country. This provided opportunity to their linked entities to offload their shares at higher prices and make significant profits at the cost of unsuspecting retail investors. Telegram, which does little policing of its content, has also became a hub for Russian propaganda and misinformation. Many pro-Kremlin channels have become popular, alongside accounts of journalists and other independent observers. False news often spreads via public groups, or chats, with potentially fatal effects.

油塘谷油塘位於香港九龍東南的地區，鯉魚門以西北，行政上屬於觀塘區。現在油塘北部以公屋和居屋住宅為主，南部臨海位置現主要用作工業發展的地區已經被政府規劃成私人住宅區，但仍有零星的工業大廈存在。 油塘接鄰的三家村，已有150年歷史，油塘區內也設有觀塘魚類批發市場。
