شاهزاده رحیم الحسینی، فرزند ارشد آقاخان چهارم، روز چهارشنبه ۱۷ بهمن، پس از قرائت وصیت‌نامه پدرش، به‌عنوان رهبر جدید اسماعیلیان معرفی شد.
او اکنون با عنوان آقاخان پنجم امام زمان و رهبری معنوی میلیون‌ها مسلمان اسماعیلی در سراسر جهان را به ارث برده است.
کریم الحسینی، آقاخان چهارم، که به دلیل فعالیت‌های خیریه و توسعه‌ای خود شناخته می‌شد، روز سه‌شنبه در سن ۸۸ سالگی درگذشت. او از سال ۱۹۵۷، به‌مدت ۶۷ سال، امام اسماعیلیان نزاری بود.
